Folk art Inspiration

Sarah Jackson, a talented textile artist, talked to us about how she uses folk art as an inspiration for her work.  She brought lots of examples of her work and interesting artefacts for us to see.  Her stimulus comes from the folk art from many countries but she has a particular passion for Russian folk art (having studied Russian at university and also lived in Russia for a while) She often uses vintage table linen and recycled materials in her work, painting and dyeing the fabric to alter its appearance.

Her grandmother (Winifred Taylor) taught her to stitch and as a lasting memory to her Sarah named her business after her. So if you want to find out more about Sarah’s work follow the link below.
